I’d be happy with a dog that just sat there and looked at me…. mine sits there and barks especially when I’m chopping carrots, her favourite! I give in to shut her up , bad I know, so I’ll try this method out and see what happens ??We’ve never given our dog a thing from the table or our plates. We learned we were the ones who started bad habits in our others. Now we can eat with our dog laying beside us and no begging.

My dog does occasionally get scraps from me, but they go in her dog dish. The only exception is popcorn. I toss her a single popped kernel of corn, after every few handfuls that I eat, and she knows it. But I make her “sit”, “lay down”, or “roll over”. Popcorn is my training tool.Simple, dogs aren’t allowed in the kitchen while meals are being prepared and they’re not allowed in the dining space while meals are being eaten either. My family home growing up had an eat in kitchen so basically the dog wasn’t allowed in the kitchen at all from roughly 5pm-7pm.
